Fall City Forest School

Now Accepting Forest School Lease Applicants!

The Fancy Farm was excited to have the Fall City Forest School join us for the school year. But, as we know sometimes things do not always go according to plan. They will be holding summer programs here at the Fancy Farm, but our forest school site will be vacant for the school year. If you or someone you know is interested in leasing our forest school site send us an email to connect! What a great opportunity to help share natures wonders with next generations!

    About Us

Located on the outskirts of Fall City  (Issaquah Fall City Road by Duthie Hill Park), just minutes from Klahanie and Sammamish in Washington State.

The Fall City Forest School is a 100% outdoor, nature based educational program where your child can learn from our natural wonders.

Please note, while this program takes place on The Fancy Farm, we are our own separate entity owned and operated separately from The Fancy Farm. This is a nature, outdoor, play based educational program that may have animal interactions, however animals are not the focus of our program.

    Our Staff

    Founder

Christina is a homeschool (pre covid!) mom of 4 who worked for a decade in the veterinary field as a Licensed Vet Tech. With a passion for helping animals in need and teaching children she has combined the two to create "The Fancy Farm" where children and their families can first hand experience farm life and nature. Prior to working in the veterinary field, she was a preschool teacher at the YMCA early child hood development center. She grew up in the Snoqualmie valley in a large family that spent most of their free time exploring our natural world. She had a 12 year career as a girl scout and spent her teen years as a camp counselor, life guard, ski instructor, and rock climbing coach- teaching children has been a big part of her life! Currently, she enjoys studying animal behavior and applying her knowledge to help rehabilitate and train the rescues that the farm takes in. One of her favorite things about running the farm is watching the kids that come in nervous and scared leave happy and excited about their new animal friends that they met. Christina believes that the younger generations are capable of preserving our earths natural habitats and beauty and wants to instill her love of nature into as many young lives as she can.

    Director

Ms. Sorenson is a certified principal and teacher in Washington State. She is on her 12th year of teaching and has held many teacher leadership positions. She teaches inquiry-based curriculum and has taught in six countries and two states. She has taught grades one through five, worked in summer camps, worked as a Girl Scout Leader, and is excited to transition to Forest School.

She grew up in Snoqualmie in the shadow of Mt. Si and moved to Spokane as a sophomore in high school. After graduating high school, she earned her B.A. in Elementary Education at the University of Arizona. After teaching on an indigenous reservation for her first three years of teaching, she moved abroad and taught in international schools in: Yemen, China, Paraguay, North Macedonia, and Norway. In 2015, she earned a  M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from the University of Arizona. In 2020, her Washington roots called her home and she works at at a IB-world school on the Eastside, teaching grade five.

When she is not teaching, you can find her kayaking, hiking, biking, backpacking, and traveling. She spends most evenings and weekends exploring the outdoors with her dog, Rex.
